Acrylic on Canvas. Brushwork. Varnished. Representational magical realism.
She stands at the edge of the sea. A child of the tide, dressed in both her innocence and devotion. Shells in her hair. Starfish stitched to her gown. A love for the ocean in every detail.
And yet, in her hands: a spoon cradling a baby octopus… and a knife.
This painting is about cognitive dissonance.
How can we love what we harm?
How do we hold reverence and ruin in the same breath?
Her expression doesn’t accuse. It mourns.
She is me in every way but looks. In every heartbroken breath. She/I/we are all caught between nurture and consumption, tenderness and complicity.
This painting is an offering. A question. A mirror - look into it to see your truth.
