In this moment suspended between earth and sky, a giant pelican carries a man aloft on a swing woven from ropes, symbols of both connection and constraint. The bird soars over a vast ocean beneath a glowing sunset, its tether trailing through the water like a fragile link to the world below.

This painting explores the delicate balance between yearning for freedom and the invisible bonds that hold us back, between the human desire to rise and the weight of what tethers us to place, memory, and responsibility.

A meditation on the fragile dance between release and restraint, hope and burden, and the longing to fly free while staying connected to what grounds us.

While not having an obvious link to my ocean theme, this painting is about all of us, letting go of our apathy. Engaging hope and faith that we can let go of thinking ourselves as part of a throng and trying in our own way and with our communities to make a difference.
