This painting reflects Namuk's identity as a young mother to Tamsin. She is depicted as a gentle and attractive woman. Felicity has successfully captured the exhaustion and challenges that come with being a mother in a male-dominated society. The flowers on the dress are a tribute to Bougainville Island's matrilineal society, where it is said, women hold the title of "mothers of the land".  Hessian was selected as the base material for all paintings depicting nostalgic or imaginative scenes due to its ability to soften and obscure intricate brushwork and in this instance, to convey a sense of aloneness and yet power in Namuk's existence.

Synthetic polymer paint on treated hessian on quality cotton canvas.  The painting has been treated with a synthetic polymer varnish of archival quality.  36 by 36 inches. (91.5 by 91.5 cm).
